A SPACE JUST FOR HER

Well, the front hall renovation has come to a screeching halt.  A new and exciting project has postponed any demolition from happening dans chez Cooper, at least for the next little while.  BUT!  I am busy LOVING this new adventure!

We will get back on track around here at some point, and I have continued to look for solutions to the main floor ‘storage needed/canadian winters are a mess’ problem.   Plans have now exploded into adding a small addition to the rear of the house which would address a number of functional issues on the main floor…..will this happen? We shall see!

In the meantime, working on updating the bedrooms is still a possibility. No walls need to come out, and the flooring is staying (for now), so these updates should be fun and easy!   Rowan’s room has already been repainted (inspired by the print I blogged about HERE), and Gracyn’s will be next.

Rowan is growing up SO quickly that designing a space to suit her through her tween years is a must.  She loves “teal and green”  but  “also pink, Mama”.  So this print? PERFECT.

I will use some bright colors pulled from the print and temper them with black and white. A bold coral stripe against a bright white wall will pack that graphic punch I’m looking for.   The room will then be further layered with colorful, geometric prints in the area rug, and pillows.

Functionally the space needed the obvious storage for clothing, but it was a bookcase that topped the MUST HAVE list.  Reading has become a favorite quiet activity over the last year and both girls have requested a big bookshelf with a reading corner which, I have been told, will be a cozy floor space with a ‘bunch of pillows’.  Done and done!  Although nothing is set in stone yet, I have a pretty good idea of how things will play out.

Things may change slightly as we move along.  A trip to Target for a t-shirt can turn into a cart full of home decor goods in about 3.4 seconds.  One thing is for sure, the color story will be generally the same, and I have a little girl who is super excited about it….
